A lot has been written about what your store should look like – what your display should contain, what font should be on your open sign, among others. But what things should you avoid? Read on and find out.
Unprofessional looking signs
Signs that look unprofessional may seem too tacky for customers. For a store who wants to attract more clientele, it is important to have signs that would be look welcoming and expensively made. A sign that looks like a child made does not look attractive at all. People may think you are skimping that may affect the way they think about the quality of your products. The best way to attract more customers is to have signs that are made by professionals. Use materials that look expensive, but not necessarily expensive to make.
Overly loud music
Music is a delight but too much of it can be annoying. Some people may want to feel relaxed when shopping. Blasting music is not one to relax people. It may give some energy but it can exhaust other people as well. Play music that is acceptable to the ear, something that is not too loud or not too soft. Also, do choose the songs carelessly. Find the kind of music that can be identified with your product as well.
Attendants in extreme behavior
Attendants are the ambassadors of their stores. Find attendants who are dedicated in their jobs. Those who are very knowledgeable and who treat clients as king are the kind of attendants you would like to have. Attentiveness brings wonders. This would ensure sales. It is also important to note that these people should not appear too pushy since this would not seat well with clients. Have attendants who can be persuasive but not to a point that they bully clients into buying. Lastly, find people who are not judgmental. The employees should gladly serve customers in all shapes and sizes, whether or not they look like they can afford your products.
Lack of inventory
When your store has an open sign, this means that customers can buy the things they need that you offer. If what they require is always out of stock or unavailable because “you don’t have it,” then they would be disappointed. Your store is not really open when you don’t have all the products you can sell. You can remain closed for all they care. It would be better to check your inventory every week to see what must be refilled. Having full inventory would show your dedication in providing quality service.
An ill-maintained store
Stores should be welcoming. A poorly lit establishment is not a good way to encourage customers nor dirty shelves and messy fitting rooms. A clean environment shows respect to customers since they can comfortably shop without fear of getting hurt from tetanus or a nasty slip. Have a regular cleanup day every week to ensure that the store is inviting and fresh.
