Learn some tips on how to quickly pique the interest of passers-by.
Programmable LED signs are effective tools for getting your message across. They are very eye-catching as they are very bright and visible, even when the sun is high up. However, if your message isn’t compelling enough, your scrolling LED sign will deem ineffective.
That is why it is very important that you create captivating messages. Here are ways on how to create content that will surely catch people’s attention:
Keep them short and straightforward.
Scrolling LED signs have limited space for content. You then need to create messages that are short but packed with all the important details. If your sign is installed near a busy road, the text needs to be larger and more concise, as your audience will be drivers and pedestrians.
For example, you are offering a new menu item in your restaurant. Instead of displaying “New Menu Item Available - Spicy Tacos with Honey-Lime Slaw,” go with “Eat Spicy Tacos with Honey-Lime Slaw Today!” instead. Remember that even if it’s short, your message needs to still be easily understood yet catchy at the same time.
Use the right font case and appropriate colors.
LED signs today allow you to display messages in lower case, upper case, and proper case. Some may think that flashing messages in all upper case letters is effective; however, in some cases, it is not. Text in all caps looks too stiff, urgent, and serious, so capital letters aren’t advisable for inspirational quotes and greetings. They are better used in promotional messages and emergency situations. Proper case, on the other hand, is best used when displaying new products or services, or the name of your business.
When it comes to colors, red is always best used in emergencies and other messages that need to be seen quickly. Programmable LED signs today now feature multi-colored LED bulbs, and they are best used in light-hearted messages or in schools and cafes. Never use multiple colors when displaying urgent or important messages as people might not take them seriously.
Keep your messages relevant.
One of the common mistakes of businesses is that they forget to change the messages on their LED signs. When people see outdated messages, the chances of them actually checking out your business drops. So make sure that once a promotion or a holiday ends, quickly replace your message with a new one. You wouldn’t want to disappoint customers whenever they ask about the expired promotion or make people cringe with an Easter message in May.
