Tips on how to make your investments last.
As with any other business expense, wise entrepreneurs know the value in making sure their investments last a long time. As the greener and more cost-efficient signage and lighting solution, it’s safe to say that you can get several good years from your programmable LED signs. However, it won’t hurt to do these best practices to make sure your displays live up to their reliable reputation.
Avoid playing with their switches
As mentioned before, LED signs are made to last awhile. This doesn’t mean it’s fine to play around with them by frequently switching them on and off. Doing so can shorten their life span and you might find yourself looking for a replacement sooner than expected. You need to avoid doing this so make sure you have a set schedule when you will be turning on and off your store’s LED lighting fixtures. It’s best to keep outdoor signages shut off during the daytime, while those indoors can stay on during store hours.
Don’t keep them on 24/7
As mentioned in the previous post, having a set schedule for operating your scrolling LED signs is essential to keeping them last a long time. So while we urge our customers to avoid playing around with their switches, keeping them on all the time is just as bad. Bulbs can overheat when kept on 24/7, most especially in areas where they are most exposed to the elements.
Provide enough ventilation for cooling down
Overuse and overexposure can lead to early breakdowns and damage. In fact, LED bulbs when left without protection can lead to their melting. Again, this can be prevented by not overusing them and by installing enclosures that will shield them from intense temperature. Make sure to go for those with enough vents that let heat dissipate to avoid early damage to the sign’s components.
Check your power supply for issues
Even with these best practices set, voltage fluctuations can surely give you a headache as they can speed up deterioration when left unchecked. Make sure to have a stable power supply so that this doesn’t happen.
Have experts check the unit when problems arise
It’s tempting to do repairs by yourself once you encounter an issue with your signages. However, this may lead to further damage especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Our advice would be to let experts handle repairs and checks as they are the best folks to handle such crises.
