Be on the look out for these digital signage blunders.
In our article last week, we’ve discussed why going digital is the wiser choice when choosing signage options, and we hope we were able to convince you to go for LEDs! Now before you make your first purchase of neon or LED open signs for your store, make sure you’ve taken the right steps to ensure you will avoid these common mistakes.
Buying an LED sign without having any plan or goals
Investing in your business is a wise move, but making investments without a purpose or goal is a huge mistake. Before you go and purchase an LED sign or any type of signage for that matter, you must already have a whole concept set in place. You must know your purpose for purchasing one, the message you want to impart, and the reaction you want to receive from your audience. Like any other advertising campaign, your purpose must be clear so that the messaging and execution is effective. What happens when there is no clear direction? One or two of the following may occur:
Putting on the wrong choice of words
You must be able to capture your audience’s attention in a short time, so you better be clear with your messaging. Again, it all goes back to your purpose for putting up a sign. Do you want to announce a new product? Do you want to introduce yourself to the people? When you know what you want to say, you can avoid wasting your time, efforts, and expenses by putting on the right message from the get-go.Choosing the wrong design
Your choice of colors, fonts, and your message should all mesh well together to create an effective advertisement. You may have come up with a strong, memorable slogan, for example, but it’ll be all for nothing if the colors you chose, clash with one another. Take the time to pick the right colors and design elements to make sure your message stands out. Basically, you need to make sure you’re capturing your intended audience’s attention without ending up as an eyesore.Forgetting about placement
Don’t waste a great opportunity by placing your sign in the wrong location. You need to place where it will be easily noticeable, so make sure there is enough foot traffic and that your signs won’t blend in and disappear, amongst other signs. For large billboards, you may want to check with your local council to see that you’re not violating any zoning laws in your area.
